Polar plunge raises thousands for John Hudson Dilgen, Staten Islander with rare skin disease3/23/2025
Dozens of participants — both two-legged and four-legged alike — partook in a polar plunge fundraiser in the waters off South Beach Sunday in the name of John Hudson Dilgen. Dilgen, a 22-year-old Tottenville resident, has been battling epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare, life-threatening genetic disorder that causes skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch, since infancy.
